Operations Update: January 14th

OPERATIONS UPDATE. Jan, 14th:

Powder Mountain Resort will not open today, January 14th. We’re happy to see the snow but with severe weather comes dangerous conditions. We received 14” of heavy snow overnight, on top of 66” of lighter-density snow from the past 6 days. With natural avalanches covering the road early this morning, UDOT made the decision to close the SR-158 and our Snow Safety team further made the decision to close the resort for the safety of our guests and team.⁠

OPERATIONS UPDATE. Jan, 13th:

UPDATE 10:00AM: Lightning Ridge, Woody's World, and Paradise have opened.

UPDATE 9:00AM: SR-158 IS OPEN

Another storm rolled in last night, delivering 10” in the past 24 hours, and 25" in the past 48 hours. As our team works though opening operations, below is what we are expecting for today, January 13th.

Lift and Terrain Updates: Hidden Lake, Timberline, and Sundown are expected to open today. More terrain updates to come.

The lifts above are planned to open on time however as a reminder, there may be delays on certain elements of operation. Respect all rope lines, they are set for your safety.


SR-158 will close for avalanche mitigation at 6:00am on Saturday, January 13th. Our mountain ops teams will be working throughout the morning to mitigate the road and resort terrain. SR-158 is expected to reopen at 8:30am, thank you for your patience.

Predicted Weather: More snow is expected to start at 11am, accumulating a couple inches during day operations. Heavy snowfall and extreme winds are expected to start after we close at 4pm. We are expecting up to 14"overnight.
