Frequently Asked Questions

Do's and Don't

  • Do place your Powder Mountain Card in a secure pant or jacket pocket, away from wallet, phone, or headphones.
  • Do save your card to reload lift and cat tickets for future visits.
  • Don't place the Powder Mountain Card next to your wallet, phone or other RFID cards.
  • Don't bend or punch holes in your RFID card.

What is RFID?

  • RFID stands for Radio-Frequency IDentification. A circuit is integrated into your lift ticket or season pass.

Why is Powder Mountain using RFID?

  • It saves time, money, and makes accessing the mountain much easier by eliminating the need for waiting in line at a ticket window.

How is the pass scanned?

  • Lift operators and ticket checkers will have a scanner, outfitted with information screen, which they will point towards where the RFID card is located on a person.

Where should the pass be located?

  • The RFID card should be placed away from anything that will block it or hide it. Guests should keep it in an easily accessed pocket, without any phone, wallet, or keys near it.

Can RFID be used to access personal information?

  • No. Each RFID card contains a unique multi-digit code associated with the guest profile. The number on the pass is your account number and a password is needed to access your information.

Are there health and safety concerns associated with using RFID?

  • No. RFID technology does not radiate any radio-frequency, but instead reflects it.

Can the RFID card be replaced?

  • Yes. RFID cards can be replaced for $5. Once replaced, the old card is deactivated automically and cannot be reused.
