2008 Superfly Open

TO RIP AT POWDER MOUNTAIN

2008 Superfly Open - Friday, February 8 - Sunday, February 10, 2008

The Superfly Open is a perfect opportunity for those intrigued by the sport to enjoy introductory kite clinics and watch some of the best snow kiters in the world showcase their talent. Powder Mountain's grooming team has been busy building some fantastic "snow features." (With over 12 feet of natural snow so far this year, there's plenty of snow to mold into some EXCITING features!) Slide rails and boxes are being generously provided by event sponsors. Three categories of competition will be on display - Freestyle, Kitecross or Big Air. There will also be timed challenges hosted by Ogden-based timepiece manufacturer Suunto, as well as clinics which are open to the public.

Clif Bar SOS Winter Road Trip

This February, Clif Bar will embark on the second annual Save Our Snow (SOS) Winter Road Trip. The premise is simple: global climate change is having an adverse effect on our winters and has the potential to jeopardize the future of snow sports if we're not careful. As a food company rooted in outdoor sports, Clif Bar has always had an interest in doing what we can to protect the places where we like to play.

So we're setting out again this winter to help educate and inspire skiers and snowboarders to take action to do their part to fight global climate change. Our team will head out throughout the Western US this winter in Marty McFry, our veggie-oil fueled RV, to spread the word about taking small steps to make a big impact in the fight against global climate change. By talking with winter sport enthusiasts about making smart choices to find their energy - switching to CFL light bulbs, investigating alternative fuels for vehicles, and eating organic foods - we hope that this influential group of winter-lovers will help to mobilize a movement towards making those smarter choices to Save Our Snow!

The Save Our Snow (SOS) Winter Road Trip will be coming to Powder Mountain on Saturday, February 2nd from 9 to 3pm. Come say hello, get a free warm Clif Bar and learn how you can make some critical decisions to help Save Our Snow!

Powder Safari Cat Tours

The Way family from Arizona helped kick off the new year and inaugurate Powder Mountain's new Powder Safaris - all-day guided snowcat tours - with some creamy, no-fat, 100% pure Northern Utah powder yesterday. After several first track runs, their 12 year old Johnny commented, "with skiing like this, why do we ever go anywhere else?".

Our thoughts exactly.
